Happy 75th Birthday Keith Richards!

Happy 75th Birthday to Keith Richards...
As he says at every concert, "It's good to be here, it's good to be anywhere."
So play some Rolling Stones today and toast the man who will probably outlive us all.

Friday Inspiration: Annular Solar Eclipse

An annular solar eclipse occurs when the moon is at a greater distance from Earth, therefore giving the appearance that the moon is smaller and cannot completely engulf the sun as passes between. The shadow of the moon leaves the Sun's visible outer edges to form an annulus (Latin for "ring").

Secret 7"

I'm beyond thrilled that my work was selected for Secret 7” to be featured on the album cover of Jeff Buckley's "Lover You Should've Come Over"

Secret 7" selects 7 tracks from 7 of the best-known musicians around (this year includes songs by Jeff Buckley, Jimi Hendrix, and The Clash) and presses each one 100 times to vinyl. They then invite creatives from around the world to interpret the tracks in their own style.

This year the unique sleeves are exhibited and being auctioned off to benefit Mind UK, a mental health organization that helps half a million people in England and Wales annually. The 2018 exhibition is being held at The Jetty, Greenwich Peninsula, in London and is sponsored by Sony Music and Squarespace.

Friday Inspiration: Hildegard von Bingen (Women in Art History cont'd)

Hildegard von Bingen (German, 1098 –1179)

Also known as "Saint Hildegard and Sibyl of the Rhine," she was a German Benedictine abbess, writer, composer, artist, philosopher, Christian mystic, visionary, and polymath. She is considered to be the founder of scientific natural history in Germany and published works on theology, botany, and medicinal remedies. She published the first know description of the female orgasm in 1150. She is one of a very few Western illustrators of illuminated miniatures and manuscripts whose work was recognizable and credited in their lifetime.

Sister Corita Kent was a Catholic nun, prolific printmaker, arts educator and social activist. She is an artistic hero of mine and I'm currently feeling very inspired by the graphic vibrancy of her work. In particular I'm loving the color palette of red, blue, magenta, and purple.
