Book-a-Week: Palladio Construct
It's summertime in the studio and in an effort to get back in the groove of making stuff (and get out of my head...) I've given myself a challenge: make a book a week.
This book evolved out of a finding a discarded library book of The Four Books of Architecture by Andrea Palladio. Originally published in Venice in 1570 AD, it is considered one of the greatest treatises on classical architecture.
The images became a construct of Palladio's architectural ideal-- I used over 30 illustrated plates to construct the panorama and two dozen floor plans for the verso. It is a city that doesn't exist, but a city that reminds me of Rome or parts of Paris or someplace I've never been.
